Stepping through a new door

Three years and three months ago I started working at the Government Research and Information Library at State Library of Queensland and today I worked my last day. I was blessed to stumble into a job with this amazing team who have nurtured and supported me into the librarian I am today. When I first started in this research library I had no idea what I was doing and what was going on around me – seriously, no idea – but I listened, I asked questions, I learned. I want to say thank you to my team – Anna, Ben, Cassie, Cathy, Deb, Jovena, Sue, Shannon and especially Angela for encouraging me to be myself in the workplace and develop as my own professional. I couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with and I shall miss you all! I would also like to say farewell to all of the other awesome people I worked, laughed and ate cake with across SLQ – thanks for the fun!

I am stepping through a new door into a new job and a new challenge as Outreach Librarian for City of Gold Coast Libraries. I have been working part-time with GC Libraries for five months and I am excited to get stuck into this new role. As I farewell one amazing team I step into another, how lucky am I? Onwards and upwards!
